SE Fishing Trip

Got the yearly camping trip coming up Mid-May, interested in getting y’all’s suggestions on where to go? Anywhere within 4.5 hours of Atlanta is game.

We will either wade, or could take the Jon boat.

Smallmouth, spots, or red eyes would be ideal target. If the area also allows us easy access to gain elevation for trout we aren’t opposed to that.

Currently looking at somewhere around North Cherokee NF (TN), Pisgah NF (NC), or maybe Black Warrior NF (AL). Anything else we should look at in the area? Anyone done all 3 and have a preference?

Much better fishing options in e tenn. than nc. With all the rivers and tva I’d be chasing stripers there over nc. As a nc resident I’m not over pleased with our fisheries compared to surrounding states

GA has a handful of very good fishing lakes. There is even one on the TN line that has a phenomenal SM bite every spring. Check GON.

The striper, white bass, crappie runs will be long over by then. You are in a good area for fishing.
