Good afternoon from PA. I have been logging many miles scouting for deer on large tracts of public PA mountains. I've run into turkeys several times and I'm curious if you can pattern these birds or if their movement is more random than deer. The season starts on Saturday and I've seen groups of birds in different areas all throughout April. I've never hunted turkeys in the mountains and I have my hands full finding some good bucks to hunt in fall but I'll give it a shot if my odds of getting an opportunity are greater than random by hunting around where I found them.

Maybe some info you can tease out here:

If you find an area with a lot of turkeys I would hunt it for sure. In my experience they hang around the same areas most of the year and are relatively easy to pattern compared to big bucks.

Yeah they will be in those areas. Nothing better than turkey hunting in the mountains. Go for it!

Probably should post the location of these mountain birds, I can give you a better idea after I explore

My mountain turkey experience is in the Rockies, but from what I've seen, if you see birds in a spot at any given time of the year, they'll be in that vicinity for Spring. I think there's only specific areas in the mountains that turkeys can survive.
