I'll be out late this month on a scouting trip to a wilderness area. The area I'm hunting is a very low density area.

I'm thinking going lightweight and covering as much ground as possible would be the best option. What do you experienced guys think?

I'll have 3 ish days

I'm in the same boat for a deer hunt in November.

I've hunted the unit to the south of this years hunt so I'm familiar with the terrain and deer. Same mountain range and only about 30 miles to the north. I'll focus first on driving, looking a road access to trail heads and spots to camp. I'm focusing 70% in a Wilderness area and 30% NF.

I'll be on the hunting grounds 36 hours prior to the hunt to settle in a do a little near camp glassing.

I plan to have 3 to 5 trail heads scouted in person based on e-scouting then a couple of hikes on day 2 marking good glassing points.

As Iron Mike Tyson says, we all think we have a good plan until we're punched in the mouth. ;)
