Scope Suggestion

Good afternoon people,

I am writing this to ask all of you for your experiences first hand with optics. These experiences will hopefully be relating to durability and glass clarity of your scopes. I am hoping that this may help me out with deciding on which scope to put on my new 6.5 PRC (Seekins PH2). I will let you know the parameters this scope must meet but first a little about the use for this scope.

I have some experience with Vortex Viper stuff but never ventured into a razor. I farm and ranch. I am always in and out of a side by side, tractor, and the ole F-150. I live in the icy tundra of the US. Temps range from -30f to 100f . So durability is a must. This rifle will be going everywhere with me. It's not uncommon to put on 20-30 miles per day on the old side by side checking cattle, fields, or traveling. So i would classify this scope having to be rugged but it's pretty open so taking a shot out to 700+ yards on ole wiley coyote isn't out of the question either.

Parameters I would prefer:

• Price - $2000ish or cheaper hopefully! (2500 MAX and it has to be something I didn't think of)
• Size preference- Minimum 2x and max of 25x and anywhere inbetween
• Objective lens - 50mm objective at the smallest preferrably.
• Turrets - Must have locking turrets
• Tube diameter - Doesn't Matter
• Biggest concern - holding zero

I have researched the shit out of this topic and wanted people to give me their experiences in this particular topic. I know Night force would be my best at holding zero but they don't have locking turrets do they? I'm leaning towards the new Swarovski Z5i+ but question the durability. I have looked into like a LHT by Vortex but keep shying away from them. I also have looked into possibly a Mark 5 but haven't fully committed to that yet.

I guess i hope for information from people who use their stuff daily. I appreciate your time and look forward to discussing this.

Turrets - Must have locking turrets

If the turrets MUST lock then this is the best option I can think of

That's a lot of budget. The turret lock will be your bottleneck. Doesnt the 4-16x42 atacr have a turret lock?

S&B and NF have some models with locking turrets that pass the drop test.

Though Form had mixed results, several of us did find that the Leupold Mark 4 (not 5) with locking turrets indeed did appear resistant to drops across a number of mag ranges and tests.

I really appreciate everyone's input so far. I forgot that the ATACR had locking rings. I researched it a little more. Was there any drop tests done with Swarovski?

I think that 4-16x42 is the only locking elevation turret they have. Mine has been a great scope.

I was in a similor place, but couldnt find the best fit unless I removed my desire for Kockengen turrets. I went with the NF NX8 4-32x50 and have lovend it. Many trips out and about with it and surprisingly, I’m yet to move the turrets. Recently I have switched to the 2.5-20, loving it.

If you want the scope to hold zero you only have 4 options: Nightforce, Trijicon, Maven RS 1.2 only, SWFA. Locking turrets, not sure other than nightforce. Swaros, Leupold, Vortex etc. do not hold zero.

The S&B Klassiks and LPVOs hold zero. The latter at least has locking turrets. One might extrapolate that the more substantial S&Bs with locking turrets might have a good shot at holding zero (expensive experiment).

The Minox ZP5 THLR also holds zero but does not have locking turrets.
