I picked up a Winchester Model 70 featherweight in 30-06 and plan to get a scope somewhere in the 2-7x33, 3-9x36 or 40 (Swaro) or 2-10x42 range (looking at Trijicon, NF, Swaro, Leupold). I'd like to go ahead and order scope rings and had a friend recommend Talleys. Can someone help me with which height I should get? Do the ranges of objectives I have listed above affect which height I should get? Meaning, should I decide on exactly which scope and then go from there on the rings? Amateur in this arena.

I actually don't have the rifle yet (it's shipping and should be here end of wk) but I want to make sure I have enough height to clear the open bolt, but not so much it negatively affects my cheek weld. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Lows should be fine. I have 30mm Talley lightweights low on my model 70 and it clears a 3-15x42 SWFA with a little bit of room to spare. Also had 1" low with a leupold 3-9x40 mark3 before this and also comfortably cleared.
