Alright I am in a dilemma. I finally convinced my wife to try hunting. I was in the process of installing an old scope and some rings that I had on her .270 m77 mark ii. Well my luck I went to install them and I am missing two screws. I can't find them for the life if me. Does anyone sell those little buggers. I noticed on google that the rings are specific to the mark ii.

Brownell's or possibly Midway will have them. A local to you gunsmith might, also. Yes, the Ruger rings are all you can use on the action.

If you can't track some down, let me know as I may have an extra set or two of rings lying around. Won't sell the screws, but we might be able to work out something on rings.

Thanks guys. I will check out the local shops today. I sure hope I can find some. I was also going to try a hardware store to see if they have some that could work for this season.

Sometimes a well stocked Ace Hardware has helped me out with a screw w/ the correct thread pitch. Many times it has to be cut down, or the head made smaller. But those I minor mods. I usually just chuck it up in a drill and use files to work it down. Sort of a redneck mini lathe if you will. Most of the time I can make it work until I can order a factory replacement. You can call Ruger, you know that right? And like said, Brownells has just about everything as well.

Anyway, good luck!

PS: make sure you use blue 242 Loctite on the treads too.

They should be 6-40x3/8. Most of the screws you find in a hdw store will be 6-32 UNC, but they may have 6-40 UNF if it is well supplied. Generally scope
Base screws are a modified socket head cap or torx screw with a low head and a tapered countersink geometry. You might be able to come pretty close with a file and drill (see above).
