A few more details may help narrow down some models. For a touch over 500 I'm liking my Trijicon Credo 3-9.
Nothing fancy this is my first hunting setup. Just need something reliable, holds zero, and won't break the bank. Athlon Argos HMR, GPO Passion 3x, Meopta Optika5, Bushnell Engage, and Leupold Freedom and VX-3HD are on my list. Realistically I want to stay below 500.

I’ve head great things about the primary arms lines of scopes in that price range. They would definitely be where I’d look. Also the bushnell match pro ED. They are supposed to be dropping a new batch in April

Trijicon Huron, 2.5-10x40, BDC reticle, 30mm tube. Currently on sale at EuroOptic for $455.

I put one on a rifle last year and like it a lot.

So after doing more research instead of my blanket requirements I would definitely want zero reset, zero lock, and uncapped turrets at no more than 500 give or take a few extra bucks but no more than 600

It would appear you intend to dial given that you want uncapped turrets. The Leupold VX-Freedom CDS dials for elevation so it may meet your specs and is in your price range. I have one and like it but don't dial so I have no real experience, but what I have read on this forum is that scopes in your specified price range are not generally considered reliable for dialing. That's something you might want to investigate before spending $.
