Decided to go with Tikka T3X for my next rifle. If SWFA is not available what are some good scopes to look at. Looking to spend 500 give or take.

In that price range I would keep looking for an SWFA. Place a backorder for the scope of your choice and/or scour the classifieds daily.

The Trijicon most suited to what you are wanting to shoot. May have to add a Benjamin or two. If low light shooting is a priority, an Accupoint 2.5-10x56 with amber dot.

I own 3 SWFA scopes and bought two of them used while no new ones were available. I didn’t pay ridiculous prices for them either. All of them are about 1/3 to half the cost of a Trijicon a less than a quarter the cost of a Nightforce. They are durable scopes with reasonable glass, and really good reticles for hunting.

Midway has had over the past years, blow out prices on discontinued rifle scopes this time of year. Japanese or German optics cost a bit more but 80% is optic quality and 20% mechanical in my opinion. My eyes aren’t the best these days so I need glass that is clear and excels in low light conditions or I don’t want to look through them. For a lightweight Tikka to balance right, and shoot comfortable, a lightweight scope that shoots and tracks well is what I typically go with.

For that price I really like the Leupold VX3-HD. 2.5-8x is my preference but if you’re in more open areas/ more likely to take longer shots I think the 3.5-10x would be great as well.

Like above in that range the vx-3hd from leupold in a 3.5-10 is a pretty nice piece of glass for the cost. I have one on my 243 that doubles as antelope/coyote gun. It’s not in the same catagory as the vx-5 and 6’s but it also costs 2-3x less.

I was in a similar situation as the OP.

I ended up purchasing a Bushnell Elite 4200 (Japanese made) 3-9x40 from Ebay for under $300 and I ran a WTB ad for a Zeiss Conquest MC 3-9x40mm; I scored a NIB Zeiss for $385 shipped.

Not bad for two well-made, classic scopes.

I like my Meopta's, but they tend to be heavy. I just bought a Leupold VX-3HD for might lighter rifles.
I had one of the smaller ones 4-14x42 or something like that and liked it other than how it doesnt go past one revolution because of the way the zero stop works and the reticle being super thick

VX3HD series. Lightweight, noticeably better glass to my eye vs older Leupolds (Vari-XIIc, VX-II) and keeps that simple, low(er) profile look.

Older Bausch and Lomb scopes are nice as stated earlier in the thread. Good glass, just a bit less on eye relief than I prefer vs. Leupold when comparing my B&L 3200 3-9x40 vs any of the Leupold (new or older) scopes in the safe.

Good luck, let us know which way you go.

Eurooptic has the Trijicon credo 2.5-10x56 on sale for $519. Could back order an Swfa 3-9x42 or wait for a used one for similar money.

A few more details may help narrow down some models. For a touch over 500 I'm liking my Trijicon Credo 3-9.
