So I have an old Ruger Mark 77 II. I can't bring my scope back far enough toward my face enough to get a full field of view with the old rings before it bottom out where the tube angles up from the 1" main tube toward 40mm objective. Also, if adjust it back I think the bell will hit the barrel.
Leupold makes an extender that will give me about 3/8" of an inch. Should I be considering a Picatinny style base? It seems like a more expensive option along with the rings. Any other suggestions? There aren't many options out there for the Rugger M77 II.
Also, any suggestions other then Butler Creek for good scope covers? I like the look of the Vortex Defender caps (especially the one with the "doping" disc) but it has bad reviews.
