I’ll be purchasing a new muzzleloader set up this year. I’m debating on either a VX Freedom 3-9 and getting a turret made for it or just going with the VX Freedom Muzzleloader scope with the bdc reticle. The set up I’ll be shooting will be a new Accura LX-R, bh209 and probably 250g Barnes spitfires. So my question is for you guys with custom turrets on a set up similar to this, what are you guys seeing for max range on your set up? I hunt out west so long range shots are a daily occurrence. If you guys were in my shoes, which one of these scopes would you go with on this set up? Thanks for any help in the decision making!

My Savage ML2 is good for 500 yards at the range, and 300 hunting with a 300gr Parker at around 1950fps. I have a Burris C4 scope on it with the MOA dial. Works really well and has been reliable.

I would not get a turret cut for the load and just stick to an MOA turret. I have hunted that muzzleloader in Indiana a 750 feet, New Mexico at 9000 feet and other places in between.

I've got a diamondback with the basic BDC reticle and like it. Not perfect but if you know what ranges each line represents, you are good.
