Scope Bumper Scope caps

I've missed a shot opportunity when it was pouring due to droplets in both ends. I got solid scope covers installed as soon as it was possible.

That is unfortunate. If I could not see through them due to water on them, I would tear them off. If it is raining hard enough, there really are no perfect solutions. But for what the scope bumpers cost, I want a no compromises solution that works better in any situation than the $10 option.

Anyone know what the "long" means? S2H has the 43.5, but the SB site says my RS1.2 needs a 43.5 Long. Not really sure what the diff is.

This appears to be the difference between long and “not long.”

So you haven’t shot with them, hunted with them, or actually used them- but have decided they are a waste of money, because you can’t dive them?

I shot with them this afternoon.

It’s not hunting season, so I can’t hunt with them. But, I am going to keep using them and see if my opinion changes after extended use.

At this time, I have decided they are a waste of money because they don’t keep the lenses dry as well as the $10 alternative.

They don’t keep the kens dry as well as the $10 alternative when submerged. But… didn’t the $10 alternative also leak?

I doubt there is any one with more field days, and field days in the rain on the scope bumpers than I- and they keep the lenses dry in real use.

Maybe I will let my daughter spray me with a garden hose while I hold them tomorrow morning? I can set the hose to everything from mist to large drops and see how well they compare. Or just take them in the shower and turn the pressure up and down?

The $10 variant kept the objective lens bone dry. The issues with the rear lens and the $10 variant can be easily mitigated. I was also thinking about how I put the rear cover on and can probably do better.

Anyway, the $10 variant did better than the $150 variant. That’s not a ringing endorsement for the scope bumpers.

I doubt there is anyone with more field days than the scope bumpers than you too. I am curious if perhaps they fit better on your scope than they do on the SWFA 6x42? They were a very tight fit, but it may be that they do significantly better on a different scope?

I wanted to see if the scope bumpers kept water out if I fell in a mud puddle or seasonal stream or something similar. They don’t. That’s not exactly “diving.”

Are the long versions on the rear because they collect more water when carried over the shoulder in a vertical position?

I wonder what the disadvantage is, using just the standard vice Long, as the size is the same, just the amount of coverage on the eyepiece it seems.

I don’t know, but I also don’t know why you wouldn’t follow their recommendations. The only ones discounted via S2H are the ones for the S2H ZT scope.
