Hey all, I'm looking at getting a pair of these for late season mule deer, early November, and wondering how they would compare to my LL Bean insulated boots. I'm thinking they would be substantially warmer and have a lot more traction. Does anyone have any experience with them? The last two years I was wearing my Lowa Hunters and got a little chilly footed when I wasn't up and moving. Thanks

Wolf;
I have never used Schnees.... but anything has to be better than the Bean boots they now make. Beans did away ,years ago, with their best insulated boot. Schnees tread has to be much better than Beans.

I have been considering purchasing a pair of Schnees also.

I can get a substantial discount on Bean boots but they are the last boot I would consider for hunting.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong here, I don't use the Beans for hunting, I just kick them on in the fall and winter here in Alaska. These Schnees boots look like they'd be a good boot for the conditions I experienced the last couple years in Montana, a foot of snow and 0-15 degrees every day.

Good boot. Don't know if you'll be warm enough if you are going to sit for extended periods in 0* weather. Very good, stiff soled, traction. A little bit heavy but all around a pretty good boot.

Thanks for all the help, much appreciated. Any hiking in them will likely be less than 7-8 miles, and I've walked that in extra toughs or Muck boots before : )

I agree, for extended sits at sub-zero these won't be warm enough without handwarmers. However, I've worn mine for horseback hunting in -10 to -20 temps and they worked fine. An hour or two in the saddle and it was time to get off and hike a bit to warm the toes back up.

Love mine. Like others said sitting you can't still get cold, however I've done a few really cold hunts in deep snow in mine and love them. Highly recommend them...way better then the bean boots plus they have a much better sole for hiking.

They are outstanding boots. They keep my feet warm, support my ankles, and have excellent traction. I have the 13" height and would recommend them for better ankle and calf support. If you think the Hunter II won't be warm enough, they make a slightly heavier model with more insulation for those really cold days. I prefer to wear my Schnee's Hunters over very good leather boots that I have if that tells you anything about how comfortable they are to wear. As others said, it's really nice to have an extra set of liners so you can take them at the end of the day and in the morning a dry liner goes back in.

When I bought my first Hunter II boots after never having seen a pair but owning some old Beans I was uncomfortable spending that much money. Looking back now it seems silly. The Schnee's are one of my best hunting investments ever.

When one of my daughters started hunting seriously in her late 20's her first big purchase was a rifle followed closely by a pair of Hunter II's. My feet wish I had started at the same age.

Thank you for your business and we are very happy to hear our boots run in your family! Hope you get many years of use out of them!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. We make our boots a 5min drive from where I am typing this message in Bozeman, MT. The workers there LOVE hearing from people and I will share with them some of the comments here, it will make their day.

Now, not going to trash talk here, but our Hunter II is on another level. Here's an example: We had a manufacturer from Boston come out here over the winter and being from the East coast swore by his Beans...until he saw his first set of Schnee's Pac Boots. He couldn't believe the difference in quality and the craftsmanship that went into every pair. They will not let you down and will last you many years of hard use.

I completely agree. Schnees pack boots are exceptional. As I mentioned I have the Hunter II model and mine are in fine shape, but I've been drooling over getting the Bison model. Dang you guys! I drew a buck mule deer tag for over near Drummond and man the rut is the time to find those big bucks when the snow and the cold hit with a vengeance. They would be perfect!

I can send my dog over, then you'll have reason to buy a new pair.
