Ok looking for some new boots. I currently have Hoffman explorer 400 in 10.5, that’s what my feet usually are and they are a little small/tight. My daughter has been wearing them and likes them. I liked everything about them but my feet get cold fairly easy in them and they are a little tight. So my feet get cold maybe because they are tight. But I was thinking about the explorer 800 and going up to an 11 or 11.5. Any ways I seen some good prices also on Scheenes near Beartooth v3 400 insulated, and the granite 600. How are them two boots vs the explorer? The explorers are very comfortable for me for walking hiking and in warmer weather. I hunt in North Dakota in the hills so I like a very supportive boot. For work I wear jk hand made pnw boots, also have a pair of nicks pnw boots too. Any advice would be great.

I have the Schnee’s Beartooth 200 and have used them on early and late season hunts. They have been great and I have no real complaints. I did get my actual shoe size and they fit well with a mid weight sock but are pretty snug with heavyweight sock. On some of the late season hunt I have run into cold feet if stationary. No experience with the Hoffman’s but certainly recommend Schnee’s.

If your boots are too tight, no amount of insulation will keep your feet warm. I’ve got the uninsulated Explorers. As long as I’m moving, my feet are comfortable. I sized up a half size in the Explorer.

I went-up a half-size in my Explorer Insulated 400s after trying my normal shoe size.
