I have a pair of Scarpa Kinsesis Pro that I got over a year ago in prep for some elk hunts that never happened. I've kept them and tried to use them for weighted hikes and general stuff in the whitetail woods. Anyway, I get some pretty bad pain near the first knuckle of middle two toes of my left foot. I do not get this pain in any other pair of boots that I have (which are all way more flexible). I have the Synergy footbeds in them. Anyone have any idea or any experience with Scarpa's doing anything similar? I don't know if the forefoot is too narrow, or if it's the stiffness or what's going on. I hate to get rid of them based on how much I spent, but at this point I'm not even wearing them.

Many of the Scarpa models tend to be very stiff mountaineering style boot which if they fit your foot (they are narrow) can be great for side hilling and steep off trail hiking. Downside, they are not the most comfortable boots on flat or moderate hard pack trails. Mine tend to hurt my feet unless I am really hitting more difficult steep stuff.

Seems like a lot of boot for the whitetail woods and even for most elk hunts unless you are carrying heavy loads or hunting really steep country. I would be looking for a boot with a lot more flexibility for what you describe. Seems to be a pretty good aftermarket for the Scarpas, maybe list them up for sale in classifieds? Good luck.

I had a little pain in my arches when I first started wearing mine but after 200 miles or so to break them in they feel really good. They are super stiff and it took me a while to get used to them. Like someone said they aren’t great on flat, smooth surfaces but shine in lots of rock and bad terrain. I’m really happy with mine. They may not be the boot for you however. Everyone is different.

Thanks for the insight guys. It’s just a weird thing the pain I get. I was directed towards these from a pretty reputable place, but they just don’t seem to be the fit for me. Quality is outstanding in them. I think I may just need a boot with more room in the forefoot area maybe. Or maybe it’s the stiffness that is getting me. I got them for elk hunting hoping I’d be carrying a lot of weight out but I’m not sure that’ll happen now. I’m not sure I want to go solo and no one around here to go with. But that’s a whole different story.
