I bought a vortex viper scope from him and knew I shouldn’t use PayPal f&f, but I got scammed and out money now. Here’s his reply

I know there was something dusty with that deal. That sucks you got burned. I was in the middle of asking questions about that scope and the he ghosted me. If he lost the money that not your fault. What a tool.

There's a chance it could have been a hacked account as well.... finds one with a decent track record and uses it to get the sale.

Definitely harder to want to purchase things from the classifieds these days.

Just pay goods and services if your worried about it and make sure not to make payment with any comment related to 2A products. My experience is then you can dispute the charges.

A lot of these guys are hackers and scammers that work together in some foreign country.
Why I try and avoid long range hunting dot com. That site is the worst for it. I can taken over there. Then when I sold my barreled action there a scammer tried to tell the buyer he was the seller. But they actually texted his wife's cell phone.

On one of the other forums there been a rash of hijacking the profile of a known long time member who hasn’t been very active. Leads folks to let their guard down and usually fall for the friends and family payment
