Scammer Alert “Jessepkurt”

Hate to admit it, but I got scammed. I have been buying and selling on several forums for a while, and usually I am very careful. I got in a hurry and let my guard down.. Got me. It looks like an old account got hacked. Jessepkurt seemed legit and spoke all the perfect lingo. After payment, crickets.. be careful. The scammers are getting crafty.

I have been hesitant to post anything like this for a couple reasons. 1. I am not the authority on this subject, but I have been around the block a time or two buying/selling for over 15 years on the internet. 2. Scammers read stuff like this and learn from it. But I have watched a lot of people get scammed here and quite a few are avoidable.

With that, here are some things that you can watch for

• If you post a WTB thread, you have to be on your game. These are scam magnets. Scammers search for these specifically and they magically have exactly what you are looking for.

Scammers have been especially rampant on here lately..many in the form of hacked accounts. In the past, i had no problem sending F&F to accounts i trust, but with the element of hacked accounts, ive moved to a paypal g&s policy for myself as a buyer..it sucks to pay an extra 3% on a $3k item, but it beats the heck out of being out all that $$. The last couple times i brought up g&s to guys that turned out to be scammers, they scurried off like the roaches they are

I wonder if the forum software can deactivate accounts that go more than 60 days without a login, or force a password reset to email on file after 90 days or whatever.... for the accounts that don't have 2FA enabled obviously. I like the 2FA, makes me login periodically to verify, maybe just force that across the board for everyone.

Had a pretty good one Saturday who was selling some 8x32 els. I worked up a deal with him but I insisted on a phone call before I sent money. Ghosted on the phone call. Knew something was up or either dude had no character and wanted a better deal. At minimum you must get people on the phone or FaceTime these days if the amount of money would make you lose sleep.

FNGTony has since banned the account.
