Helene has destroyed my bear woods. Rough country is going to be even rougher.

That sucks. I know the area I am hunting has quite a few trees down as well. Plus the creeks that run through it have torn some stuff up.

I am going to focus on WV this year and give SC a little time to settle down. The good thing is that in 2-3 years all of that area is going to be slam full of growth which should draw them in.

Yep same here in NE TN. I haven’t seen any official statements from the DNR, but I’ve heard that some parts of the Cherokee NF are shut down for the season.

I spent the day in the woods. It was blow down after blow down. Also the forest floor was covered in small twigs and leaves. It was nearly impossible to see any sign.

The devastation is just unbelievable. Some areas were sheltered but most all the hardwood stands I hunt got wrecked.

I sat all day Saturday and went on walk-abouts Tuesday and Wednesday. Much less bear sign than usual. Thinking the bears are in the thick stuff eating on the fallen mast and not moving as much.
