Sawyer Permethrin Insect Repellent?

Has anyone used this stuff while hunting? I'm thinking about trying it out this year. It says a 24 oz bottle will coat 4 outfits and will last up to 6 washings or 6 weeks. It's supposed to be odorless and the reviews on it are really good. I was thinking about spraying down all my clothes and tent before packing in for a 7 day hunt.

I use it here in the Midwest for spring, summer and fall but do not use it for fall western hunting. Seems to work for me and seems odorless to me once it drys.

This past bear season I came home several different times with double-digit numbers of ticks on me. I used the permethrin spray on my clothes and groundcloth and didn't have a problem the rest of the season.

I usually don't have too much of a problem with mosquitoes while elk hunting or scouting, but this year while scouting I got eaten alive. It didn't matter if you where at 10,000' or 12,000', they where everywhere. It's a new unit for me so I'm not sure how bad they will be come September but I think I will try this stuff on my next scout trip.

been using it for several years for ticks, turning clothes inside out to spray and let dry. not sure on the 'lasts several washings' tho. always spray up every day going to woods. lots of info on buying the stuff pure and cutting to make your own spray, but have always used sawyers. wally world normally best place to buy but have snagged some off ebay.

I soak my camos, hammock, tents, packs with it.

I use it. It's great! Went 5 miles through brush yesterday and not one tick. Stinks to high heaven before its dry though.

Stuff works well. Just follow the directions and don't apply to skin.

You won't be sorry. I've got it on my skin plenty with no issue but it says not to.

I use it year wrong in TX. Chiggers are bad this year and its the only thing that works.

Also all your commerically insect blocker/repel etc clothings is just pre-treated with permethrin

Worked great for me in boundary waters mid June this year. Spray your clothes generously, let it dry, and your ready to go. Supposed to last 6 washes and it's been close to that for me.

You can still get the military soak version through medical supply companies. This year I didn't pull a single tick off my clothing.

It works great for ticks. It's not repellent, it's poison. I still get as many ticks on me as normal, but they die from breathing the permethrin in and fall of before they have a chance to climb very high on you.

Be careful with it though, it's a nasty chemical. Don't breathe it in or get it on your skin. I spray my clothes he day before I'm going out and leave them hang outside overnight. I do it maybe every other week throughout the spring and it works well. Not sure if it'd help much with mosquitoes.

They advertise it as working for mosquitoes and the online reviews state the same. I figured I would spray my clothes and my tarp.

It was originally developed as a soak treatment for the military. I believe Sawyer still manufacturers it this way, but it is hard to find. I found it through a medical supply company last year and bought several treatment kits. I will try to find the company.

I think the soak version works better for ticks, as I didn't find a single tick crawling on my this year, when in years past, even with spray-treated clothes I would find one or two walking up my legs.

My hunting partner went to permethrin this year with great results too.
