Well my thread about stainless vs blued guns has got me looking specifically at the 116 trophy hunter xp model in .270. Seems like one of the best deals out there for a stainless steel rifle.

You won't be disappointed. Should be a shooter out of the box. With a long action if you ever want to change caliber you will have a lot more options than with a short action.

Yup great shooting package. Double check ring tightness, or replace with some Leopolds.... those nikon pro staff scopes are one of the best you will get in a package. You can get the stainless trigger guard from savage for like 20 bucks if the stock one doesn't float your boat too... dresses it up a bit☺

You'll be happy enough with the accuracy out of the box, I guarantee it!
This was the day I bought My model 11 Hog Hunter .308. It's wearing a Redfield 2-7x32 scope.

3 shots at 700yds.....

Until about 5 or 6 years ago I would not even look at a Savage. I tried a precision carbine and it shot very well. The problem with Savages is they are tinker toys easy to change barrels, bolt heads, recoil lugs, ect. You can buy a Savage for a good price, used and build what you want your self.

I have a precision carbine in .308. It is a very accurate rifle, though I haven't shot it much outside of 200 yards. Very happy with it.
