Is the Sauer 100 6.5cm really a 1:8.7tw barrel as stated on Eurooptic? The 140gr ELDM calls for a 1:8.5 and the 130tmk a 1:8. Any issues observed with stabilizing the good bullets at sea level?

I’ve shot 130, 140, and 147gr ELD-M and the 156gr Berger at 0ft DA.

Pushing a rod through it I’m pretty sure it’s one in 8.25 or better.

Ridiculous how well this rifle shoots, 300 yards with a 3-9 Super Sniper

Picked up a sauer 100 in 6.5prc, had a tikka before (same caliber) perhaps I should've stayed that way. Anyways, adjusted trigger which is real nice, mounted a scope and headed to the range.
Had 2 boxes of new Federal, 120 (trophy copper) and 140 (bonded soft point) grainers. Unfortunately neither ammo would chamber, removed scope, still no luck (thought a screw may have been protruding). That was yesterday, this morning, I visited my friends at Benchmark barrels, explained the situation, obviously I brought the ammo in question with me, we tried again no luck, they brought out some new Hornady factory, viola chambered no problem. Mic'd the federal at the neck, .295 for the 120 and. 2935 for the 140, hornady 143 .291, body dimensions approximately the same. I guess these rifles have an extremely tight neck. Just fyi., will see how it shoots next.

What scope rings do folks recommend using with this rifle?

• I will probably be mounting an SWFA 6x on it (or some similar 40mm objective). I would also like ring height recommendations for this combination.
• I'm not concerned about weight savings.
• I just want reliable rings with the minimum amount of fuss.
• The top end of my budget is $130, but I would prefer to spend about half that.
• Putting on a picatinny rail and then putting good rings on top of that is acceptable, but if I can get a solid mount without doing that, I would prefer it.
• I probably want the option to put on a bubble level, but this is not essential.

I would do, and did: two-piece Burris XTR pic rails Loctite 380 bonded on, with good pic rings. The Leupold Backcountry one piece rings are solid, but you can’t vary ring spacing on them.

Maybe it’s already been discussed but is there enough meat to thread this barrel 5/8x24 at around 18”-20” ? About to impulse buy the non threaded version if so

@Presswood_936, as it happens, I have this handy little gauge that Silencer Central gave me when I ordered a barrel threading job from them. If you were to cut the barrel back to 16”, or maybe 17”, you would have enough barrel to do 5/8-24. Otherwise, you would need 1/2x28 or 9/16-24.

That’s the 5/8-24 gauge. It’s 0.685” min.

There are other options for 5/8x24 threads on a .630 barrel...check out Kampfeld Custom.

My recent experience with Karl is that he is a good guy who does excellent work. Trying hard to not send him another rifle to thread for me, lol.

Yes, this is another option. I’ve never used Kampfeld, but I hear great things about him. I might send him my new Sauer along with the other rifle I hope to acquire next week.

It was so simple sending them to Silencer Central and they did such good work, that I might just do that again, even though it will result in 1/2x28 threads on the Sauer.

Plenty of deer have fallen to the 95-grain Nosler Ballistic Tip and the 100-grain Hornady Whitetail.

Good chance it will stabilize 95gr TMK’s.
