I'm not sure what the problem is with passing on what the company rep said, bearing in mind that company reps can and do give out incorrect info all the time.

Makes perfect sense. My Cerekote guy prefers no house guests. He would rather you go thru the gun shops that he works with. He does my cerekote without going thru the shops. My friend is a retired armorer who will do anything his friends want, but he won’t advertise or charge a fee. When I offered to help spread his name, he asked me not to do that at all. He specifically doesn’t want to be known as a gunsmith. He just wants to keep it as a hobby. Yet he is, without a doubt, the finest gunsmith I know.

You just answered it for yourself. You friend does it for a hobby which is why he doesn't charge. If he charged then he'd be even more liable for his work.My friend is a retired armorer who will do anything his friends want, but he won’t advertise or charge a fee. Exactly. Google rebarreling a rifle and you'll get a ton of hits. Except for Sauer 100.
Here's a screenshot from Blaser Group answering my question of rebarreling a rifle.

I'm not sure why this thread triggered you so much. If you can help the guy, help him. If not, no need to make it a huge deal. Do you think he is lieing about what he was told by the rep?Gesus marry. The internet of 2015 wants its “tikkas can’t be rebarreled” nonsense back.
I kinda get the feeling that this thread has officially taken the place whodeewho thread.
This is great!

Nope my question was if they would install a barrel. When I called they said no they do not install barrels.that didnt answer your question
what am I missing? post the link
He had to bore out the barrel, which is what I guessed. I'll pick a rifle that's easier to rebarrel.Looks like this Smith has done one. Appears he got his ass handed to him, but he got it done. I'd give him a call

Sauer 100 rebarrel. Glad to have it done. A very similar breeching setup to the Lithgow centrefire rifles. And also similar but not the same as the AI rifles. The factory barrel was loctited into...www.facebook.com
That smith is in Australia. Thanks for the effort.Looks like this Smith has done one. Appears he got his ass handed to him, but he got it done. I'd give him a call

Your responses just strike me as combative. Internet typing usually doesn't convey true tone, so maybe thats why you come off as "Triggered" to me in this thread. As a potential buyer of a Sauer 100, rebarreling info is important to me. I honestly have never looked at these rifles, but if they are on par with Tikkas, I would certainly entertain the thought. Why is “triggered” used so much? Saying that someone with zero experience, is repeating something wrong- isn’t “triggered”. xsn10x’s posts after the first one are utterly ridiculous.
Help him what? Have you read the entire thread? He doesn’t own a Sauer 100, he will not buy a Sauer 100, he just has some weird rant about the supposed rebarreling problem.
Relief cuts are way easier than boring out the barrel and then peeling out the thin threads. There's a video of the smith doing that in your FB link. He even said that it took way more hours than he charged. I doubt he'd do another one.Your responses just strike me as combative. As you stated, there is very little info on them. The few threads that come up on re-barreling, all involve a difficult but doable process. Does sound similar to re-barreling Tikkas in 2015, I will give you that. I can remember relief cuts were the only wayaccording to most.
