Hi Everyone. I am hoping you can help. I have never used the scatterlee method before, so I decided to give it a try. I shot 3 shot groups of 0.2gr increments for a new bullet I am trying out. What nodes would you hone in on here and what would your next step be? Would you try to do a few rounds at 0.1 gr increments in those ranges, or move onto seating depth for groups now?

55.6 looks pretty good. If you done 3 shot groups you might see if they’re repeatable. 54.2-55.2 is interesting. Where did they hit when you shot those. I’ve not seen a node that big so I personally would reshoot those. You also have a few discrepancies. Your max at 55.2 is lower than your min.

These were all three shot groups. I haven't tuned seating depth so there were no amazing groups, I did make a note that 56 and 56.6 did produce pretty nice groups for having not been fine tuned yet. Not following my max lower than min at 55.2 statement. My Min at 55.2 is 2986 ft/s and max is 3005 ft/sec. There is a pretty odd outlier at 55.0 where its higher than my 55.2 high (you can see that on the chart).

In my opinion those are pretty awesome results and a lot of comp shooters just call that a good barrel. I'd tinker with seating depth a bit at wherever you want to be and see what happens. Personally I'd roll with a charge that already showed potential like 56 or 56.6 if you didn't have any signs of pressure.

I think I'd try around 55.6-55.9 and do a little seating depth testing. Typically the middle of the node is where you want to be for a stable load.

I would load 20 rounds at 56.3. 5 rounds each at 4 lengths. For a hunting rifle, I would start 15 or 20 thou shorter than mag length (lands permitting). Dont touch or jam. This shorter than mag length starting point will allow room for lot to lot variance on projectiles as well as proper feeding. Load 5 rounds at determined coal. Then subtract 15 or 20 thou again and again. Use cbto for more better consistency. Hopefully one of the loads shows good accuracy. Assuming sd and es are still acceptable i would load more at that length. If i was wanting more accuracy, I would load more at 5 and 10 thou above and below... This has been my approach. Always learning though

If your results were mine I'd load 20 rounds of 54.7 and head back out to see if it repeats. That huge, wide velocity node with good SD/ES would be a hammer in a competition rifle. I'd leave the 100 fps on the table and not think twice about it.
