Quick question for those who may have done so, can you sand down a fiberglass stocks barrel channel? I want to sand down a barrel channel on an AG Composites fiberglass stock but never done so before.

You can sand anything really. Start with a 80-100 grit until you get pretty close to your final dimension, then hit it with 600-1500 grit to sooth it out if you care. If it was me, I would use a dremel with a sanding drum on the end. Or even start with a carbide bit and hog it out then finish with sanding.

One of the important questions I would be asking is, how thick the fibreglass shell is... You really don't want to go through it if it's hollow in there...

start with 80grit get close then finish with 150grit to final dimensions. go over with 320grit just enough to remove scratches. put some tape on forearm and seal fiberglass with paint color of choice.
do sanding by hand with wooden dowel for best job, fiberglass sands easy. take your time and it will look factory.

If you grab some deep sockets, they are typically varied enough to work to guide the sand paper. You can also shim up the action and use the barrel as the guide. I like to put a layer of tape on the barrel to avoid the rub marks if using the barrel.

That’s a great point, with my luck I’d bust through and I guess have to re-glass it

Wrap the sandpaper around an appropriate diameter extended impact socket.
Do the shoot2hunt guys have much experience with the AG Composites alpine hunter? Specifically the potential to bust through the top sanding too much

I used a deep well socket and 80 grit to do my stockys stock. It took 1/2 hr. It came off extremely fast.

After further consideration and reading more, I’m just going to send it with the biggest inlet they offer and give my barrel as much room to breath as I can. Aesthetics are dumb anyways :)
