Ive worn Quests and was planning on picking up a pair for this fall, but I really hate the fact that they are Guaranteed to lose their waterproofing at an unknown time, long before they should.

Ive never heard a bad thing about the Renegades. Ive tried them on at REI and was unimpressed with the construction of the foot bed compared to the Salomon, but I would replace the insoles anyway so that's a non issue for me. They otherwise seem to work well with my feet.

Does anyone have any experience with both? Do the Renegades maintain their waterproofing? Will they last more then a season?

No experience with the solomons but I don’t consider the renegades much of a backcountry boot. They are more of my yard work and light hikes with the kids boot. I wouldn’t see them making it very long under heavy use

I second the opinion of the Renegade. The Lowa Camino is a bit more stout and so far have done well backpacking with 40lb over rough terrain. For real steep/nasty stuff I still like the Lowa L&S Lite Hunter

Have not tried the Salomon, Lowa's fit me well.
