Sako S20 Reports

Seems a handful of folks have posted on these over the last year. I am thinking of picking one up in 6.5 PRC, hows everyone's impressions/accuracy now that you have owned them awhile?

S20 has to be one of the least reviewed guns around. I seriously considered one but went tikka for better after market support, easier resale and fewer unknowns.

absolutely love mine, finally got out and zeroed it and shoots .8" from the bench with a bipod and squeeze bag. Mine is in 300win and think i am going to pick up another in 6.5PRC. I have the hunter model and the precision stock set (which i am thinking about selling). It's not a super light rifle, all together with spartan bipod and scope it comes in at about 9.5-10lbs. Patiently waiting for the CF stock set. Obviously it's an enclosed chassis type rifle, bolt and action is VERY similar to the tikka but with a superior barrel from my understanding. I would highly recommend. They have a 5 shot MOA guarantee

I am looking at the 6.5 PRC. I saw it on the shelf yesterday and my first thought was that it belonged in the hands of a storm trooper but after staring at it for a few min it grew on me. Handled it for a bit and man it feels great and it seems to shoulder, point, and fit, real nice. I saw a post on here about the carbon stock options but havent seen any real details...? I may just have to pay the weight penalty on these and get one.

yeah the thing just feels at home when it's shouldered. Wait until you go prone with it, it's the most natural feeling rifle I've had and there is a lot of customization in fit you get with it that you don't get in most other hunting rifles. You look at some of the new Tikka's pushing $1100+...i think you are getting well over $400 in features with the Sako.

That's where I was at too, but figured a pound or two doesn't make all that much difference to me...and i definitely shoot a heavier rifle better. Sako has hinted at the CF stock a few times, but i have not seen any details from them yet. Just hope it comes to the US market...I think these have caught on in overseas markets quicker than in the US due to it looking "different" from our normal hunting rifles.

I have not heard of anyone re-barreling yet. They obviously CAN be, but they don't have any prefits out there to my knowledge. Would be nice if the T3x prefits fit it! Sako has built in room at the forend for different brl profiles. For example, a CF bbl, there is a little shim in there that you can pull out that gives more room in the brl channel.

Just went and did it. 9lb 12oz with A419rail vortex pro rings and a Swaro Z5i 2.4-12 . In the "precision" chassis. It's 2oz heavier than the hunting plastics but more comfortable to shoot for me.

Hows your accuracy been with the 308?

Have tried Hornady match 168, Hornady American? 165g , and Norma 150.
Both the norma and match will do .75-1" for me at 100yards, I'm a mediocre shot and don't particular love that scope. The 165s seem to want to do 2" . I believe they are all guaranteed 1moa @100 , I can't seem to get within 4" for the life of me at 200 with it though. Pretty positive it's a mix of my bad form and parallax.

Proof Research Tikka prefits, fit Sako 85's. I bet there's a good chance it would also fit the S20

Yeah I thought they did, but haven’t seen any confirmation on someone using it on an s20. Wouldn’t be surprised though, not that I plan to replace. I know the shim in the bbl channel on the s20 can be removed and will allow for the contour though.

I don’t think this variation is available in the states. The only one I’ve seen here is the grey cerakote fluted version.

I think you are right. I'm hoping that changes. Otherwise, this thing checks a lot of boxes.

Do the Tikka and Sako 75 teigger springs fit the S20? The look really similar to me. Any first hand experience?
