Just bought a new Sako 85 rifle. What scope rings do you recommend? I know they make their own but curious if those are the best or if I should look at something else.

The Sakos are a bit heavy but they work well. I like the double screws up top and they are definitely quality.

I like the lightweight talleys as well with blue loktite since a single top screw.

Leupold also makes rings and bases for them.

There’s also a company called Contessa that makes a really high quality but heavier than I like picatinny rail for them.

Some photos.

Opti locks are always on the taller side of what you’d expect. Lows are more like medium height rings and so on. Keep that in mind if your leaning that direction. Also Sako rifles have a built in windage adjustment in the front scope mount area, so if you slide them forward or backward in that area it affects your windage. Most people arent aware of that and Sako does a poor job of letting new customers know that.

I use the Optilock base and ring mounts. They are rock solid and I do like them. If I ever decided to go with another mount it would be a rail mount from Richard Near.

Anyone mount a 34mm scope on optilock bases using the spuhr rings? Wondering about ring heights relative to objective size.

I own several Sako 85's. I have used the Talley base and steel ring system and the Optilock system. I prefer the Talley system. I had 2 different scopes (Swaro Z3 and Meopta Meopro) on 2 different Sako 85's that would not allow for enough windage adjustment to zero the scope when using the Optilock system. I actually sent both scopes back to the manufacturers because I though it was an issue with the scopes. When the scopes were returned with communications stating that the testing found no malfunctions I remounted them with the same result. I could not get the scope to zero due to lack of enough windage adjustment. This is what prompted the Talley purchase. After switching I've never had any issues. I have not weighed the Talley system but I also feel like they are lighter. The only downside is that the mounting screw that attaches the base to the rail will mar the rail. I could care less about that though.
