Sad to see the Swarovski EL 12x50 go

What the heck is Swarovski thinking by getting rid of the EL 12x50 and offering no similar sized replacement?! The new NL Pure 12x42s are just going to be wayyy too dark. I want a big lens to let light in. 12x60 would be ideal if they wanted to upgrade things, but I’d happily settle for the old 12x50 size that they had for the ELs.

Luckily Swarovski replaced the EL 10x50 with the NL Pure 10x52. Expensive, yes, but at least we still have a good option for a big lens that lets lots of light in. Why did they stay on track with the 10x but strayed so terribly with the 12x ????

Have you looked though the NL 12s? I had both the 12x50 and x42 and compared them side by side extensively in all conditions including last light. I Ended up selling my beloved ELs because the NL were better in every way to my eyes.

I have both as well. I think they’re pretty close in low light. The EL’s have a better depth of focus. The nl’s are lighter and are marginally better at everything else.
