I just saw this on SAAMI site, 25 Creedmoor was approved, and sponsored by Hornady. I know Hornady announced it was making brass last year.
Anyone seen any other announcements?

25 PRC would be a sweet addition. I run a 25 SST which is a short mag. Love it with the 133sWith Hornady, Berger, and Sierra all making very high BC 131-138gr bullets in 25 cal it's kind of resurrected and breathed new life in to the 25's and made them about as popular as I've ever seen.
People can love em or hate em but I think Hornady has been doing a good job of bringing things to the shooting world that actually appeal to large groups instead of niche market items. With so much new interest in 25's standardizing the 25 Creedmoor is a smart play. If the interest level maintains for the 25 cals I would expect them to do the same thing with a 25 PRC based off a necked down 6.5PRC.
Well heck let's not stop there how about we throw Winchester and Remington under the bus while were at too because they ripped off Springfield with the 270 Win and 25-06 then Winchester went and created the 284 that's been wildcatted probably as much as the 06 and in like calibers are ballistic twins. Why those dirty rotten cheatin SOB'sUnlike the creedmoor which was a rip off of the 260, the 6 creed which is a rip off of the 243, the 300 PRC which doesn’t do anything the 300 win would do, the 7 PRC which doesn’t do anything the 7 mag would do, or the 22 creed which is duplicating a fast twist 22-250, the 25 creed is actually filling a niche. Of course it’s not doing anything the old as dirt 257 Roberts or 25-06 with fast twist barrel could do. Folks line up for Hornady, so there’s no reason they won’t fall all over themselves with the 25.
@TaperPin thats an old complaint for shooters of limited perspective.
You have to depart from SAAMI with older cartridges to do what Creedmoor and PRC do with their SAAMI specs—faster twist, better case design, longer throats, etc.
SAAMI exists for safe plug and play rifle/ammo, so no, the 300, 260, 243, 257 and 22-250 can’t do what the new ones do.
Consumers are idiots, which is why Bass Pro has signs that bullets are not loaded ammunition… Imagine the chaos releasing a fast twist 243 with long throat and then getting idiots who can’t shoot the new ammo through their slow twist rifle.
That’s true. We handloaders and wildcatters don’t care about no SAAMI… And, we are so special.I think a better way to put it is that they don’t offer a benefit a small subset of shooters that handload AND like to tinker with everything. Especially if you shoot something like a Tikka where fitting in a true short action is meaningless.
