I recently bought an M&P 10MM 2.0 with a 4.6 inch barrell. Shoots 180 grain ammo just fine but drops magazines and some FTF issues with Underwood 200 Grain Hardcast. I contacted Smith and Wesson via email and they responded that I need to shoot ammo within SAAMI specs which I believe the Underwood is. Has anyone had luck addressing this issue through Smith and Wesson or on their own?

Thank You !

Are you hitting the mag release during recoil? That happens sometimes depending on the grip and position of the release.

Is it only with that ammo? Have you tried other hard recoiling ammo to see if you get the same result?

I have not tried any other hard recoiling ammo. Is there any you would suggest for bear protection? I'm not hitting the mag release.

First, good on you for testing it.

Some of the FTF problems with handguns come from a weak grip....I would confirm it's not that first.

You can try the Underwood extreme penetrator ammo they make in various weights...it's got a FMJ outer.

Shoot it holding it only with a couple of fingers so there is no chance of mag release contact. If it does it that way it’s your ammo. My guess is over pressure.
According to the underwood website, they are within SAAMI specs if I understand correctly.

I had a S&W 10 in 4in and had the mag fall out while shooting enough times to get rid of it. I ran a bunch of ammo through it, underwood 200 and 220, buffalo 220, federals hard cast (don't remember what they call it), as well as a handful of other 180gr fmj. If I recall it only happened with the heavier stuff. For the guns intended purpose that was not acceptable so I moved on to a springfield xdm and haven't had any problems with that gun.

Did you have Smith and Wesson look at yours? They just messaged me to send it to them? Did you try a beefier recoil spring or changing the magazine springs?

I did not. From what I could tell (reading on the internet) it was a "earlier" run problem that had been fixed, so maybe they can fix it. Worth a try.

I did add heavier mag spring and recoil spring to no avail.

I have an sd9 2.0 (I know def not apples to apples) but the magazine was dropping on it all the time. Sent it back to s&w and they replaced the magazine release and it’s not done it since. May be your problem as well.
