Do spring bears taste different than fall?
Spring bears smell like fresh cut grass and taste as good as bear can.....imo.Do spring bears taste different than fall?
In AK you generally look at stomach contents in the fall. If the gut is full of fish they’ll be basically inedible. If it’s full of berries and/or other plants they’ll be good eating. In the spring they’ll usually be good eating too. Probably not much different down here.Do spring bears taste different than fall?
At least it rhymes with Big Bear.Ryan's native name is Big Hair
That pic is fuzzy, but that's an awesome pic! If it was clear I would have it framed next to the bear.I've shot lots of bears but this is my best to date and he is beaut!
I have done that lots of times, like the picture above with the bear in the grass. For some reason, my mind wasn't working when I got to him.Nice Ryan
Having history is cool.
Pro tip take a video then screen shot the pics you want from that.

Good stuff Ryan!!!I shot him at 450 yards, the angle was brutal around 28 degrees. I hit him a little high but I do have to give a little credit to the Gunwerks BR4 it told me .8 mils. When I shoot at the range 450 is 1.8 mils, so I had some doubts. When I broke the shot I saw the impact and he instantly started rolling down a very steep hillside I was worried about how high the hit looked. Bears have a much smaller kill box than people think. I found the bear about a hundred yards from where I shot him. The shot was high but the 215s bailed me out again and took out the top of the lungs and broke his back. Skinning out a bear solo is fun and creeks that are small in the fall are raging rivers in the spring. Good times!
This logger drives nails like me!
At the truck
Buzz wanted no part of the bear pictures.
Good stuff Ryan!!!
Those little runoff streams in the spring are pretty impressive… often lose elevation fast so there isn’t a slow spot to cross… even though you could almost jump across, it’s all raging whitewater… looks like you figured it out fine, but spring bear don’t seem to die in very accessible spots… especially in the mountains
Well done, that’s an awesome and rare bear… we saw one the same color Friday, not as big of course, but a very decent bear… wind got us, but it’s cool seeing those red bear… any color here on the coast is rare… my dream bear looks like the one you killed… I want one rug at some point, but I’m saving it for a bear that has some wow factor like that big rusty boar… cool stuff!
