Could someone enlighten me as to the normal peak rut times for the antelope in Wyoming and if anyone has experienced poor meat flavors from the constant chasing.

I have no idea on the exact number, but I'd guess my kids and I have killed probably 30 antelope bucks during the rut. Zero issues with any of them, just take care of the meat, and there's lots of threads on here about that.

I've never had a bad antelope. Dad flat out refuses to eat it though. I wonder if they're like cilantro in the regard.that some people can eat em and others cant

As important as anything is to get the stinky hide off the meat ASAP during the rut. I've hunted Wyo for about 50 years and would say late Sept to the first week in Oct are when rut is going strong.

Never seen antelope rut in Aug, go hunt and have fun. Take care of the meat and it will be fine.

I know it happens but it is not the main stage of the rut, Sept usually around these parts.

They smell like dry roasted peanuts.

That being said how an animal smells has nothing to do with the taste. If that were the case or rutting elk would be completely inedible. Stinky bastards! 🤣 For that matter beef cattle don’t smell very good either
