Looking for recommendations for a good rut boot. I hike up steep ridges in November in Pennsylvania then sit in a stand so looking for something that hikes well then retains heat. Also probably use them during rifle. Cheers.

I like my Schnee's Beartooths. They're uninsulated and suit me fine for the rut in January in Alabama. Since you're in Pennsylvania, may want to look at an insulated option. I've been pleased with mine and will buy another pair.

Grab whatever pair of uninsulated boots work for you. Bring dry socks and look at artic shield boot covers to pack in. Throw a hand warmer in the boot cover if it's really cold out. Insulated boots on a long and/or steep hike make my feet sweat and therefore very cold.

I've got some Danner Pronghorn 400g a love them. For a relatively inexpensive boot they are warm without being too warm to hike in.

Another vote for schnees beartooth.
I have a pair of 400g that I’ve put countless miles on since 2019. For mountain hunting I have found nothing better.

I went with a pair of uninsulated beartooth when they went on sale last year and they are fine as long as I’m not sitting all day in 25 or less.

i use the zamberlain's. I have terrible plantar fasciitis and those boots don't make it flare its ugly head at all.
