Congrats on the new rifle. How does it shoot?
It shoots well. I have been testing different factory loads, as I don't reload. I need more time at the range before declaring a winner. The 180 nosler partition does well and it is a favorite bullet of mine. There is a noticeable amount of more recoil over my .270 and I bought a lead sled to help get used to it. The sled helps my groups as I must have been flinching after a couple shots. I followed a break in procedure that Kimber emailed me, spend a lot of time waiting for the barrell to cool, cleaning, and I've spent a lot of money on rounds so far.

Bought it to be my if I pull a tag in MT I could shoot anything with one rifle, gun... my list was fairly narrow as I was used the 3 position safety and CRF of the ruger and I like it.

Oregon Mountain Rifle company did a carbon barrel
and their brake for M77 mkII .270wsm. Stock trigger got a bit of work too.

Cannot complain about that performance! Not looking at replacing the barrel yet but good to know for the future.

Currently looking to replace the factory stock that has a lot of flex.

This one still has the flexy factory stock...which I don't like, but I haven't found a decent aftermarket option. I've had bad experiences with Hogue and boyds on other Rugers. McMillan made one...but I can never find them in stock. B&C have had issues with... I'm almost tempted to just buy a new OEM walnut stock for $150...

New stock and trigger will make it feel like a completely new rifle.

If you want to learn DIY, free float and bed the stock yourself and work on the trigger. If that doesn't bring it up what you want then spend the money for the new stock and trigger.

I did a similar project two years ago with an M77 7mm rm I bought new as teenager in the 70's. Never really was much of a shooter as a stock gun. Decided to have some fun. See pics...I needed to shave some material on the stock for the trigger, and shave some metal off the trigger guard. Spot bedded. I bought a blank EGW rail and had it machined to match the factory rail mount screw pattern. Mounted an SWFA 3-15x42 in Warne rings. Worked up a load that I am happy with. Tagged a late season cow elk at 291 yds with it. Wish I had taken more pics though....All the folks at Timney, Boyd, EGW and Warne were very helpful with any questions.

A Boyds stock will work for the DIYer.
