I know I know trust my guide. And I do and am. He recommends rubber boots for hunting footwear for my Spring Brown Bear hunt on the Peninsula. Just seems so strange but then again I have never been on the Peninsula so what do I know. With that, for those that have been there, do you have a recommendation on a specific mud boot? My feet sweat BAD!

Not a peninsula specific recommendation but I’ve used xtratuffs for the past 10 years with no complaints. I’ve read that the quality has dropped but I haven't experienced it.

I guess if I was buying another pair of boots today, I’d also check out lacrosse boots and maybe the ones from kuiu too.

My limited experience. A few similar things, a few different things.

Kodiak fall bear and guide recommended hip boots, would have likely been fine in my normal lacrosse muck boots (used them on a moose hunt), but anyway.

After getting off boat and to shore, we would generally switch to regular hiking boots. However, when we spotted the bear and had went after him, we left the hip boots on. My feet sweat and doubly so in those boots; they were soaked with sweat after we successfully harvested him.

I went to my bag to grab my extra socks and swap them out and lo and behold...... I didn't pack them or took them out that day for some stupid reason.

Don't be like me. Pack the extra socks.

I prefer the Muck woody max boots (just got a new pair after ~10 years). They have a good lug sole and grip fairly well....however, they will sweat like crazy if it's warm or your feet sweat easily...hard to avoid that in general with rubber boots though
