roof racks

I have a chevy pu long bed extra cad pickup with a fiberglass canopy. I want to be able to haul bikes or kayaks on the top. What are you guys doing and what do I have to keep on mind? I was thinking of puting some type of rails and racks on the toop of the canopy.

I had the tracks installed on my last canopy and then bought some Thule cross bars and a bike mount off craigslist and it works well. Everything locks in place yet comes off quickly. I'm sure with your skills you could get the tracks and install them yourself. When I get back from vacation you can take a look at how it was done if you want.
