Rolling Hard Case

I made one for my first scoped gun and had to mod it when I changed to another rifle.

...

The clothes wrap thing works for me.
While the clothes approach works, I prefer foam. I have sheets cut for each rifle - I simply swap it out to fit whichever rifle I want to accommodate. The real nuisance is that it's a double case so I also have sheets to accommodate various pairs of rifles. Sure is a nice system to have though.

@86indy, I think you should keep the case.

I'm guessing you have the rifles lay flat, like they would in other type of cases?

I've got a nice pelican about the same size I bought just for flying. I've used it a few times for trips and local stuff for hunting and to the range but its simply too big and bulky for the everyday, so I switched to a soft case instead.

I'd sell it if you dont have any plans to fly with your firearm.

Any reason you wouldn't orientate them on edge?

I was thinking 3 rifle slots on edge and a multi use space at one end for pistols or odds 'n ends.
The case is nowhere near deep enough - even if there was no foam in it.

As much as I keep trying to convince myself I should keep it, its officially gotta go. It'll probably find its way into classifieds this week.

Hey guys, I want some more thoughts on this, I have a large hard case on rollers that I am debating what to do with. Its a very large case with rolling wheels, 3 handles, 6 latches, 6 locking points and a rubber seal. Really nice quality case. It needs a foam insert which I priced at $55 for a place in Michigan to cut. I don't think I'd ever actually NEED to use the case of this caliber though, I don't have plans of flying anywhere to hunt, but rather driving. I also don't see it practical for the range either. What would you do with it? View attachment 170890View attachment 170891

Bottom foam dimensions will be 56x16x7" and lid is roughly 2.5" thick
i just seen a foam replacement on cabelas for 25bucks but it is probably only 50 inches long.
