RokStok

ok, reading fatigue but request for some advice.

I got a T3x Superlite (fluted SS barrel) in 308 - Silencer, weighs around 7lb12oz. Goal is to take it on a mountain hunt at some point. Took it to the range to sight in the scope. I was pretty surprised at the vertical jump from the barrel every shot - I have fired a handful of other people rifles but never felt a jump like this. Despite this decently consistent at 100 yds. At 200yd some ammo fairly consistent and others not. Had a bullet casing split on the side near the rim - bit of powder burn out the back around the bolt - and called it a day (after about 30 rounds).

The vertical jump just made it not feel controlled. I am thinking of getting the Rostock to improve this as the recoil jump seems to be the first thing people mention about it. Also interested in a recoil pad with how light this is.

As to what to get - Tikka T3X action, Factory Sporter contour? Any rails, sling studs, etc that you would advise getting? I would almost prefer bare carbon finish vs the free sponge but didn't see that discussed.

Need to get a spotting scope for the next trip to the range and go from there. Appreciate any input.

I think a lot of guys get the sendero contour for the extra clearance and flexibility if you swap your barrel down the line.

I’m about to put an order in and am thinking qd cups, no sling studs, pic rail up front. Or go totally slick, not sure.

While this .223 is waiting on a wood lite I was able to grab a used plain jane Rokstok off the classifieds last week. Such a pleasure to shoot with a proper short trigger reach and natural geometry that you just “click” into. The grip shape is perfect. Kinda wish it had a couple more LOP spacers, I think 14.5” would be perfect for me. Eventually it’ll move over to my stainless 6cm when the wood shows up, but for now I’m really enjoying this setup. Super functional stock design.

I definitely have stock envy after months of waiting. That’s a cool color. Not to derail, but your take on the Scope Bumpers?

Best caps I’ve used so far. Nice to not have hinges that break when you lay your rifle on its side. If I were to nitpick, they’re not fine machined pieces like Alumina caps. They have crude spots I filed down so they wouldn’t cut me open. But even so, I’m not using another cap at this point. I’m a fan.

This is one of mine from the very first pre-order. Its 3b contoured r700 sa. I'd say its on the lighter side for sure. My rokstok lite on order will probably be heavier 😆

I had a 243ai barreled action in this stock. The barrel is shot out with about 1700 rounds on it. Pulled it out tonight and removed the acrca/Pic rail from the front since I don't use it at all. Stock is now at 26.7oz. 😆
