I’m not that needy. Respect to the Rockstock pricepoint, but they touted this thing as a Rolls-Royce.
I’m afraid I don’t have photographic memory and this thread is quite long, but when was it touted as looking like a Royce?

I’m also not a car guy but I’ve never been led to believe that the British make anything other than unreliable junk cars, regardless of the price point.

I’ll take money spent on engineering function over safe queen esthetics any day.

I would say that the cosmetic issues are very apparent. Expect to see them if you order a Rokstock. The price point kind of reflects it. UM should change some of their wording and not say the bare carbon stock will be "absolutely perfect" Clearly, Stocky's is not capable of making all carbon Rokstocks "absolutely perfect." Having said that, their function seems to be exceptional by most accounts. I think most on this site expect a not so perfect stock, but others might not be willing to accept that. If that is the case, I would look into other options of higher end stocks.

This is accurate. It’s got Rok in the name so it has to look a bit like a red headed step child that got beat up every once in a while.

But all be darn if that little ginger can’t shoot lights out.

You’re right. I remember when they were telling everyone order now, you’ll get your pitted ill fitting stock a year or more later.

geez, they have some good ergonomics. they also have had some problems.

be honest about it.

It's grown on me over the last year. I think it is fugly, but to many reports saying how well it shoots and handles. I'll try one on the next release.

I just got done shooting my Tikka 6CM in a Rokstok and a REM 700 6.5PRC in a brand new McMillan mountain tracker side by side. The McM had a better finish but the Rokstok won in every other category, for me.

I know the PRC has more recoil but spotting shots with the Rokstok was so much better. The trigger reach felt better on the Rokstok and that stock has a 14.5” lop. I was on the fence about putting a deposit down on the mountain tracker LR but after tonight there is no chance I’ll pay $500+ more for a little better finish.

I’m still waiting on mine so I can’t honestly speak to the ergos directly, only to the effort I’ve read about here to develop a better stock design. Props to UM and team for putting in that effort

I will honestly say that I believe UM clearly didn’t understand the stock business. They’ve made way too many promises that they’ve failed to keep, but they do seem to at least be working on those failures, and I’m sure I’ve run my mouth in ignorance once or twice byhonest mistake, too. Time will tell whether they prove to be a business that can be trusted.

The hang up on finish is what gets me when these stocks sold at the low end of the carbon stock market. I want mine to look good, trust me, but I am also going to be understanding about finish detail if the ergos do work as intended. I don’t buy other cheap s—t and then complain about it not looking $$$.

Is your McMillan the non-LR version?

I’ll probably order a lite version, but I’m glad I waited for some of the kinks to be ironed out. Other carbon fiber stock makers can make visually perfect stocks, so it’s apparent that Stocky’s choice in materials or procedures are at fault.
If I were Stockies I’d go take a carbon composites course from Dark Aero in Wisconsin. It’s a bunch of engineers that developed an airplane out of carbon fiber that is visually stunning. They also do classes and consulting on the side for composites.

No offense taken. You can always get a Mtn tracker long range for $1000-$1100. Similar body lines, perfect finish, what you'd expect for price point. I have 2, and more on order. 500-600$ is bottom barrel carbon stock prices, you're gonna get bottom barrel carbon stock finish. Like I said, work with stockys, that's what happens, consistently inconsistent. Does the stock still function 100%, it sure does, it's just not perfectly finished.
Cant get a mtn tracker shaped like a rokstok though

Nope, time will tell.

You? Pics of your finish and your impression on the ergos?

I do think I have a different opinion than you on what people are, including myself, should be expecting to buy with the money they’re spending on this stock.

Ok, moving forwards, sound advice . Are they done fulfilling orders from last year? There was an update from UM recently, but I can’t keep it all straight. There’s been so much bs.
No, they should be filled by next month. Opening orders HOPEFULLY in march/April is what was stated.
Your response was to if all orders from last year were filled yet. I haven’t been keeping track and I ordered way late so that’s why your response had me curious.

Can’t say I have one. Way back in this thread it’s covered that I was going to order one but UM website was inaccurate on inventory so I didn’t.
