Thanks for the heads up. There's a Canadian outfit up here where I usually get my Sportsmatch and they're supposed to get some in their next shipment. If they don't get them soon I might have to reach out to AG.

It depends on what fits you. Traditionally, you want your scope as close to the center of the bore as possible.

Scope height over bore being small is not important. You need to select a ring height that matches where your head/neck size puts your eyeball. It is far more important to build a comfortable/consistent position and have the scope fit to you than for your to hump the rifle like a street animal in order to get your eyeball down behind the scope. Doing this compromises you recoil management, comfort and consistency.

Get square behind your gun with your eyes closed. When you open your eyes, you should be lined up with the scope. You can stack pennies under the scope to finetune height as recommended by American Rifle Company. You can also have someone hold a ruler for you to look at.

The same goes for how far forward or backwards you mount the scope. The gun is the piece of equipment, not you. Make the gun fit you. I prefer to be just short of a full picture that becomes a full pictures as I apply a firm pressure into my shoulder. This gives me very consistent sight picture/head position and helps reduce parallax issues

Why?

Better balance, reduced canting error (admittedly a relatively minor thing except at very long range), and better height over bore (gets scope closer to actual trajectory, which makes for more predictable adjustment at extreme close and long range).

The big reason to me is balance. I don’t want the rifle to have a tendency to rotate around the barrel’s axis. Particularly with a heavy scope, this can be problematic if it is mounted too high.

Of course, if you have ever seen someone shoot the berm (or truck) because they forget that the reticle is 2-3” above the muzzle, then that’s another good reason.

Depending on stock design, it can also result in a better cheek weld. But this is highly variable. What works for a bloke with a big damned head or neck, might not work for someone else.

To me, the most important thing is that the scope and rifle naturally come to the right spot every time I raise it, without having to bend or raise my neck.

This is exactly why I have gone to taller rings! I am a long necked sob.

I have one from the original pre order. Super happy. Recently picked up a 223 and wanted to get one for it. I have not been on this thread in forever. But a quick scroll looks like it’s the same crazy wait?!? WTF? How is it possible/this possible?

Good question. There were supposed to be enough molds to deliver an actual 90 day lead.

Maybe someday, but there is a lot of demand. With the Lite about to drop, that could cut in to production time? Different molds obviously but who knows if stockeys is ready to absorb more production. On the plus side, I think when the lites start showing up in the wild there will probably be an increase in used Rokstocks on the market.

I ordered one Nov. 2nd. So with the 120 day lead time that would mean arrival around March 2nd. I got an email this past week saying it shipped from Stockys to UM. They’ve been corresponding with me about a couple details. Seems like they’ll likely be under the 120 which isn’t too different than the 90 that was stated a couple years ago. I think I was one of the later orders in this batch so there could be some orders in this batch that are pushing up against the 120. There were people who waited like a year when this all started. So I wouldn’t say that it’s the same wait.

Mine was a Tikka no rail left hand which may have helped.

Kind of like suppressors a few years back - just certify your application and try not to think about it.

Problem is, the more I shoot my factory tikka stock, the more I realize it sucks haha. Looking forward to when the Rokstok shows up.

I ordered one on October 22 and haven't heard anything since. Less than three weeks from the 120 day mark at this point.
