"Rokslide Classifieds" clogged and cluttered - consider separating?

I know it’s been said many times in this thread already, but it seems like things would be much more streamlined if just 2 categories were added. “Gun parts & accessories” and “Clothing”

Given that the new Suppressor Classifieds was just set up - can we please, now, have a "Clothing" classifies at least? The catch-all "Rokslide Classifieds" is now more cluttered and messier than ever.

Who would we have to appeal to in order to get this considered directly?
Sorry for the delay. I let some time go by to observe the classifieds. I just moved about 20, from the first four pages, mostly guns & gun parts. I didn’t go through ads selling multiple things and I didn’t move anything that was locked/sold. I’m going to repeat this a few more times to gather results. I can say that when we move a thread there’s a notification auto generated to the poster saying where it was moved to. When we clean up the general forum it’s extremely rare to have repeat offenders.

Let’s see if this resolves itself, more categories can dilute others. If you’re wondering why classified forums aren’t closer in number to gear forums it’s because of traffic, notice how those have split off more.

Pushing the buttons to make it happen is only part of it. There’s more to consider on the database and server thus site performance.

Thank you for this effort and consideration, it's appreciated.

There's also some confusion from guys interpreting "Guns Classifieds" as literally guns only - not gun-associated stuff, like parts, accessories, or reloading components. Which are definitely gun stuff. But some of those guys may be why they're putting gun stuff in the general classifieds, being overly cautious.

Yes, I can identify with that confusion. RFC has a section for firearms only and then another one for firearms parts, accessories, etc. That mindset affects how I have placed stuff at times.

I have some idea of the tremendous amount of work involved, but I do like the idea of having more categories. Or of clarifying the descriptions for the existing categories.

Our local swap meet has a rule that “guns, or anything that goes in or on a gun” are the only things allowed for sale (so technically a reloading press wouldn’t be allowed). That might be a useful way of describing the Guns classifieds.

Not that it really matters because 95% of my RokSlide time is on my phone while I am walking my dog or on the treadmill, where I am just looking at unread threads, not deliberately looking through the Classifieds section. For most of the good stuff, the section doesn’t matter because it’s gone within minutes.

Something just came to mind:

If you could install a button right next to the "report" button that just says "wrong section", where clicking that simply sent an anonymous notification to the original poster, you could have thousands of eyes helping clean up the classifieds.

Pretty sure 95% of the wrong-section postings are accidental, rather than intentional or even lazy. Nobody wants to burn the time to post their stuff in the less optimal section.

They still wouldn’t be able to move the thread, or it would just be another way of notifying us that something needs to be moved. The ability to move a thread, only comes with moderator or admin privileges, which wouldn’t make any sense to give the entire forum that.

The idea is that they would delete their own post and re-post it in the proper section, because the notifications go to the OP, not the mods.

Wouldn’t that still leave the ad in two spots? One would be inactive but it still makes clutter and gives more exposure

You are right. I was just thinking that rather than marking them as “sold” and that automatically closed them, you would mark them as “moved” and that would automatically close them.
