Ouch, I let this challenge sneak up on me this year. I wanted to use my 3D bow but I had never shot a broadhead with it before today. I hunt with an old Bowtech Carbon Knight w fixed pins (light, easy to carry, and deadly out to 30 yds). Hit is +/- 4” from center of heart.

Day 1 - Miss - May 9 at 1:42 PM CST - 92 F and 12-14 mph winds from the left in Lubbock this afternoon. I did not hold for wind. Shot felt good but a miss 7” right and 2” low (from center, miss by 4”).

Day 2 - hit - 8:45 AM CST - Beautiful, slightly overcast day with 2 mph winds. Arrow 3” up from center of heart.

Deer are not hard to get close to - at least in my driveway…

Day one.
The rain stopped and it turned absolutely beautiful except for the wind. According to the weather channel, the wind is 10 mph with 17 mph gusts. (This is why we hunt from trees in Michigan! Out of the wind!) I usually shoot 2.75 Tac Driver vanes but, I shot DCA vanes, hoping they wouldn't be affected as much by the wind. Caught the bottom of my target. I'm sure there was a little luck in there. (Awfully windy.) It's absolutely a shame that we can't shoot between the three cold bow shots. It is an absolutely beautiful day here in Southeastern Michigan!
Oh yeah, adding this, the temperature was 56° and climbing. Cooled down during the rain but, after the sun came out, it warmed up nicely. By the time I got home it was in the high 60s.

Day two.
Swing and a miss.
I outright flintched on the shot.
I knew it the minute I let it go; I wish I could take it back.
Beautiful sunny day. 56 degrees and a 7 mile an hour wind. (I wish I could blame the wind but, the miss was all me.) I shot the same arrow as yesterday. Easton 5.0 with DCA vanes.
Further developments, one of the vanes of my arrow is tore away at the back. I guess I won't be shooting that one tomorrow.

Day 1: gorgeous weather with no wind. Missed out on the CBC for the past 2 years and haven't shot my bow in that time frame either. This was a good jump start back into shooting regularly for me. Came out with a line breaker but calling it in.IMG_4534.jpg

20260509_190157.jpg

My hunting setup from last year. Was pretty light on poundage. First broadhead I have launched in a while. Day6 arrows, 350 spine around 425gr iirc. Bohning Alpha vanes with 3 degree helical. 125gr Day6 Broadhead. QAD rest, Shrewd RevX bars(14/12) and mounts. Miss my light, didn't put it on. Spot Hogg Hogg Father with old original single pin.

20260509_190012.jpg

Day 1:
Pretty nice weather, getting late. 70's, little breeze from right to left, but not much. Typically pretty sheltered from wind in this spot once trees leaf out, most are there, some still coming along. At full draw bow felt all weird, typically shoot longer ATA. Shot felt fine, seemed fine.

Hit, of course I'd like it in the middle, but I'm happy with that.

Target is an 8 inch circle. I stuck with 50 yards again this year. I didn't have any archery hunts last year so I didn't shoot until last week.

Day 1.
Wind blowing in my face. Sunny and clear, midday.

Day 1

Felt good with the longbow so I sent it and got on the paper. I wish I could redo my compound shot though. It took awhile to settle and I should have let down and started over. Shot #10 with the compound for the year though so this is the fruits of my (lack of) practice on that front 😆

I feel more ready this year than in past years. I have kept up my shooting since hunting season ended. I also realized I needed a new target so here it is Rineheart block xl.

Day 1
It’s warm and really humid little to no wind, 70 degrees with 94% humidity. The follow through on the shot felt really good though I thought my aim might have been a little low. Perfect hit. I’m happy.

Very cold bow challenge. Sad to say that I haven't shot my bow since last years CBC. Nursing a shoulder injury, so backed 3 turns off of the limbs from an otherwise 65 lb bow.
I chose 40 yards as my MER.
Mountain Goat vitals as my target. 10” x 8”

Day 1: Success.

Yesterday I saw all these strong shooters on here shooting 70+ and decided I need to step it up. I have been putting in the time this winter and feel strong. I am placing a brown 10"x11" cardboard cutout over my target to force my eye to get used to a more realistic brown targets. I broadhead-tuned these arrows the day prior to 90 yards. Not perfect, but i think they are good enough to go 3/3 on the challenge. We will see.

05/10/2026: Day 1--HIT Left edge of target. Good elevation. 10AM. No wind. Low humidity. Light at my back. High sun. Shot broke about 1.5" left of center. I felt like the pin was very steady today. I expected it to hit 2" left of center. Instead, it was cutting the left edge. Now i get to overthink for a day and wonder if I need to hold slightly right or not for the next shot. . . 1.jpg

In for the 4th year. I haven’t been shooting as much as I should be! Also started using a thumb release a few months ago so still trying to get used to that. Previous 3 years I shot 60/65/70.. I’m doing something a little different this time! 90 yds with a slightly bigger target, to simulate a follow up shot on elk. I’m calling it a hit if it’s on the 18-1
First shot was great! Calm sunny morning. IMG_0793.jpeg

Year three of this challenge, always enjoy it! Figured this was the perfect time to ditch my previous setups and start over with a new bow😂. Initial tune is promising so I’m going for the 6” circle at 40 years (since I haven’t managed to go 3/3 yet).

Day one was calm, shooting in the morning with the sun to my back. Absolutely felt the jitters and coffee, but I kept working through my shot and managed a clean release. Touch right but I’m happy with this start.

Shooting 50Y at the steel elk. The hole is about 6” so much smaller than elk vitals. I almost chickened out and shot a regular target but then I reminded myself to grow a pair.
Thanks for doing this and dealing with us nut jobs!

I’m going to call 60 yards my MER this year. I’ve been shooting a little this spring so hopefully it goes well! I’m calling my vital zone the square face of my 18-1 target which is 8.5”x8.5”.
