Got lucky and drew a late cow tag, first couple trips all we found was groups of bulls, 4th trip out we finally turned up 2 cows in my unit. I got set up on the tripod picked the bigger of the 2 cows and got my second elk!

My 11 year old son on the last day of WI gun deer. He passed on a doe w/ 40 minutes of light remaining and 10-15 minutes later this 8 point walked out and started feeding w/ the doe and two fawns. 200 yards w/ a 6.5 Grendel shooting modified 120 Etips (nipped off back end in the lathe for an 87gr mono at 2980 fps). Was a fantastic deer to cap off the season.

Texas Public Youth Draw Hunt success this past weekend! Drought, full moon, and historically high temps (yes even for Texas) weren’t a good recipe for success but he persevered and connected with this public land 10 point. This ended up as the only buck taken on this youth hunt weekend!

So proud of the young man he is becoming!
