I am kicking around replacing my 1-piece Talley rings on my Browning X-Bolt 300 H&H. I am thinking about TPS Weaver-Style 7075 rings with Warne Maxima two-piece steel bases. I have a Huskemaw 4-16x42 30mm scope and trying to keep the scope low with super-low rings. Are the super lows going to be too low, or should I just go with the lows? The 1-piece Talleys I have are lows and they are just about perfect. I am assuming the Maxima bases are going to add a little height to the system. That's why I am thinking the TPS super-lows.

What's the difference in height with what you have and what you are contemplating? You mention Tally's are almost perfect. Beware, "the enemy of good is better", lol.

I agree. I am waiting to get my gun back from having a new barrel put on it. If it shoots well with the Talley's, I am not going to mess with anything. If I feel that it can shoot better, then I am going to try a new scope mount system. I am not putting a muzzle brake on the new barreled rifle and so there is a little concern that the 300's recoil may be too much for the Talleys. I guess we will see.

I'd reach out to Warne, I remember there being a chart on their site at one point that showed heights and how they take their measurements, but can't find it anymore. Warne's nice and heavy duty though compared to most, so they should eat up the 300 no problem.

I wouldn't worry to much about recoil affecting the Talley's. I ran them on my .300 RUM with no brake for 2 years with no problems. Then I wisened up and put a brake on it.
