I'm looking for a rimfire scope recommendation to mount on a .22LR Bergara BMR Carbon. I'm trying to keep the overall build at least somewhat light since I've bought a rifle with a carbon fiber barrel wrapped barrel and all. What rimfire scopes would anyone recommend? I would love a SWFA SS Ultralight 2.5-10, but apparently those basically don't exist anymore lol

Ive been using a tract 22 scope for 4-5 years now on my 22 and its been great, its held zero and I havnt really been careful with it. Lots of miles getting bumped around on my snow machine.

That said, it’s a hunting scope, it’s not a precision dialing thing. I put another on a different rifle and eventually I’ll be getting a 3rd 22 and the tract is what I’ll put on it. My other rimfire scopes are leupold vx1 rimfire and vortex crossfire.

What's it like using an older scope like the VX-I in 2026? I've read and heard that the older VX-I and II's are potentially built better than the VX-Freedom, but I'm worried about seals and older glass

I have not used it in a few years now but it was my go to for several years. It wasn’t until maybe 2023 when I sort of put that rifle away. It’s on a Ruger 77/22 which put a lot of food on the table out first few years in AK.

It’s a basic plex reticle, I got hundreds if not a thousand good shots on spruce grouse, ptarmigans, squirrels, rabbits, cranes and even some ducks. It dispatched lots of foxes, otters, beavers and stuff when I used to trap (don’t do that anymore).

I just sort of got into more “modern” 22s, silencers, semi autos etc. the 77/22 dosent have a threaded barrel and I never sent it off, I sort of wanted to keep it as the old classic so I left the leupold on it. I should pull it out one of these days. I’ve planned a bunch of times to get the scope off it and use it on another gun but I just never did. I have no experience with the vx freedom.

Well, if you look around, you can still find the SWFA Ultralight. Trijicon also makes some excellent lightweight scopes.
