Rimfire Scope Recommendation

I'm looking for a rimfire scope recommendation to mount on a .22LR Bergara BMR Carbon. I'm trying to keep the overall build at least somewhat light since I've bought a rifle with a carbon fiber barrel wrapped barrel and all. What rimfire scopes would anyone recommend? I would love a SWFA SS Ultralight 2.5-10, but apparently those basically don't exist anymore lol

Ive been using a tract 22 scope for 4-5 years now on my 22 and its been great, its held zero and I havnt really been careful with it. Lots of miles getting bumped around on my snow machine.

That said, it’s a hunting scope, it’s not a precision dialing thing. I put another on a different rifle and eventually I’ll be getting a 3rd 22 and the tract is what I’ll put on it. My other rimfire scopes are leupold vx1 rimfire and vortex crossfire.

What's it like using an older scope like the VX-I in 2026? I've read and heard that the older VX-I and II's are potentially built better than the VX-Freedom, but I'm worried about seals and older glass

I have not used it in a few years now but it was my go to for several years. It wasn’t until maybe 2023 when I sort of put that rifle away. It’s on a Ruger 77/22 which put a lot of food on the table out first few years in AK.

It’s a basic plex reticle, I got hundreds if not a thousand good shots on spruce grouse, ptarmigans, squirrels, rabbits, cranes and even some ducks. It dispatched lots of foxes, otters, beavers and stuff when I used to trap (don’t do that anymore).

I just sort of got into more “modern” 22s, silencers, semi autos etc. the 77/22 dosent have a threaded barrel and I never sent it off, I sort of wanted to keep it as the old classic so I left the leupold on it. I should pull it out one of these days. I’ve planned a bunch of times to get the scope off it and use it on another gun but I just never did. I have no experience with the vx freedom.

Well, if you look around, you can still find the SWFA Ultralight. Trijicon also makes some excellent lightweight scopes.

Do you a scope that dials? Or set, forget, use holdovers? If it's set n forget, Burris Droptine .22LR 3-9x40.

Oh I'm looking lol. I wish the company would just keep their products stocked :'). I'll look at trijicon. I just always thought of their stuff being heavy military oriented

Set and forget. Not too much of a fan of a 3-9 tho. Kind of looking for something with a lower minimum. I am worried about parallax. Like I've dismissed some otherwise promising scopes bc I'm worried about squirrels looking all fuzzy up close if the parallax is fixed at 100 yards

I have a leupold fx4 on my 22. A diamondback 2-7 on my daughters and each of my two sons have leupold 2-7s. I have a Nikon 4-12 and a crossfire 2-7 sitting on a shelf. Trying to decide if I get a 22 for them or sell them.

Right now I’m currently trying to hunt a VX-1 2-7x28 Rimfire or an SWFA Ultralight, if one would drop out of the sky. I’m probably single spiking Ebay’s user traffic lol. I really don’t want to get an LPVO, but I did find a Hawke that’s in my “weight range” and has most everything I’d want

That’s not a real concern in my experience. If I were you, I would look hard at the Trijicon AccuPoint 3-9x40. It’s an excellent scope and very lightweight.

Fixed parallax rimfire scopes will be set between 50 and 75 yards, with most set at 50. Burris sets theirs at 50. I don't think you'll find many, if any, LVPO scopes set at 50 yds, but I may be wrong. Maybe specific turkey hunting scopes.

Most fixed parallax scopes have a very wide and forgiving depth of focus, so close targets wont look fuzzy. I think this is a much bigger problem with a higher-magnification scope with an adjustable parallax that only goes down to 50-75 yards—some of them wont focus close enough (although lots still do).
Its easy enough to see how close you can focus by looking thru a scope though. I can check some of my trijicons tonight just for example. How close do you want it to focus?
