Rifle found after years of searching..

So I have a pretty sad update on this story.

Put the rifle on the bench to give it a deep cleaning while getting it ready for a scope, and discovered something I didn’t see previously. A crack in the stock at the tang. Flipped it over, and sure enough cracked on the bottom too.

I pulled the action and it is cracked all the way through.

I’m bummed because the seller didn’t disclose any cracking, and also mad at myself for not looking more closely when I picked it up at my FFL. I guess I didn’t look too closely knowing it was a 50+ year old rifle and expected there to be some minor cosmetic issues.

So far I haven’t had any luck looking for a replacement stock.

If you put regular super glue on the Crack from inside the inletting and gently flex the stock, it will pull the super glue into the crack. reapply until either it comes out the other end or stops pulling it in. wipe the extra off and clamp it over night with soft jaw clamps.
Unless it has pulled A LOT of oil in previously, it's a permanent fix and safe to shoot.
test it by flexing the stock and see if it reopens the crack.

Very cool story.
It does amaze me how we hold the significance or sentimental value of things.
I have an old Mossberg 22 Model 142A that my dad gave me when i was 5-6. Still have that gun today. If I had a penny for every critter i have killed with that thing I could retire cause I was always in the woods as a kid.
I have 1 gun of my dads. Its a Remington Speedmaster 22. When I was a kid this thing wore the crown in the house as far as guns went. My dad and I would go out in the yard to plink cans with the Mossberg he gave me. It was like a treat for me to be able to shoot the Speedmaster. Now that gun sits in my safe and is hardly ever been shot in the last almost 20 years, I have a 410 pump shotgun that my dad bought me for Christmas one year when I was in my 20s its made by Sears, He was a huge rabbit hunter and wanted me to have my own shotgun.
I have a Savage Pump in 35Rem that was my uncles that he gave me before he passed.

I have a bunch from one of my best friends that he has gave me over the years for gifts and helping him around his place.

These are ones that Ill never get rid of.

The sad part is I honestly dont know where they will end up. My son really isnt into hunting at all. My daughter kind of likes it. But shes also still young and also Pre Teen Girl so god help me where that will end up.

I figure maybe one day ill have grandkids that enjoy hunting and shooting I hope, and if that is the case that is where all of mine will go.
