I'm upgrading one of my Tikka's with a new barrel, stock and want to Cerakote the barrel and action (stainless). Do you attach the scope rail to the top of the receiver before Cerakote or do you have them coated separately and assemble after?

I'm also following the https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/cerakote-match-for-nightforce-smoke-bronze.386048/ thread because I'm in the exact same situation with the NF FDE scope

Thank you,
Mike

No problem - also I suppose that way if you ever remove the rail it will not have a spot missing the Cerakote. Not sure who will be doing your work but if you don't already have someone lined up I'd give Karl @ Kampfeld Customs a call, he does great work including all things Cerakote (y)

Properly done, it doesn't matter either way. In either case, I would suggest bedding the rail to ensure a perfect fit. Not strictly necessary, but good insurance IMO. Easy to do, and takes only 15-20 minutes.
