Rifle build for deer/ long range predators?

Ok have really been thinking and read about the 6um. What’s the difference between it and the 6max from Sherman? The 6max is a improved saum with 40degree shoulder. How close would a 6-6.5 prc be in velocity to the 6max or 6um 40? Just trying to say the options. Can get 6.5prc brass locally would be on a 20” barrel plan on shooting 90gamechangers to 115dtacs. Any info would be great.

The choice comes down to “velocity” and ecosystem. I think the bugs have been worked out of them. Max velocity, I would go 6 UM because of the support here, over the Sherman. I love my 7 SS and 25 SST, and talk guys into the SS in 6.5 and 7 all the time. I don’t think you’d go wrong with it.

I looked at all the ones you mentioned. For me, the 6 PRC is the easy button and run the 108-112 class bullets.

I am working with @NSI on the 6 NSI (6 PRC aka 6-6.5 PRC). Eventually, I will be selling barrels and “semi custom” Tikka/barreled actions. @NSI will be selling full custom rifles. www.nonstandard.co

I will also be adding 6 UM barrels to my store in the future. NSI will build in it too.

If it were me, I’d be looking at the 6 PRC. These days, I don’t really care for proprietary reamers, expensive dies, brass that’s hard to find, etc.

Neck down some Lapua or ADG 6.5 PRC and go to town.

I wouldn’t go to S Max for a tiny bit if velocity when UM and Rokslide is going to be a wealth of support for the 6 UM.

I gave up chasing velocity, so 50-100 fps is nothing, and caveat, I know NOTHING about the 6 max.

I weigh ecosystem higher for less frustration.
