So I contacted Sam at Appy Trails He agreed to send me out a few of his Mark V Tents for review and to sponsor us on our up and coming Elk hunt adventure that will be showing on the Sportsman Channel on Maximum Archery. I got a chance to get this setup today and man. I am impressed. The space this thing has is incredible. The Mark V is dubbed a 5 man tent but I would say it is much more comfortable for 3+ gear. It weighs in at 1 lbs 11 ounces with the 6 foot break down aluminum pole and 10 stakes that are included. I was a bit concerned about the quality of the tent at first because the price for this mansion is only 119$. But I was quickly proven wrong when I started looking at the quality of the build. It has 70 square feet of usable space with the included vestibule area, All Seams are sealed and double stitch. The stake down points are an aluminum grommet that that are double layered with material so you dont have to worry about the wind ripping them out.
This design is super stable and sturdy. I have yet to test it in the wind but I can already see this thing holding steady at 50+ MPH winds. As you can see in the photos you can completely enclose this Tent to protect you from the elements, or you can open up one flap to get a view outside. And if you really want to see everything you can open up both flaps and see everything out the front door. This makes a nice area here also to do your cooking and chilling at night if your in the middle of the storm.
The Peak of this tent is 6 feet. I can stand up in this thing with a slight crouch so I have no problem getting in and out of it while standing. The Peak is also Vented with storm flaps so you can button it down if the rain hits but release the condensation if you need too. The very end of the tent is also Vented and it has storm flaps also. This is a nice feature as you can open these up to let the air in to keep condensation down to a minimum.
Really enjoying my First look at the Appy Trails Mark V. We have 3 of these for 6 of us to use on our 10 day elk hunt. And although some of the guys plan to bring their own tents as backup and leave em in the truck just incase. I feel confident this thing will have no problem keeping the rain out and keeping our gear and us dry at night.
The Material used is Solid 185T polyester! PU1000 coated. I will test this out as we have been having evening rain storms every day so I will leave it to see how it holds up in the rain.
For now Im impressed at 120$ you cant beat the value and the build quality for what you get here.
