The Gen 2s are good.. But EL good?? I've spent much time comparing the gen2 and the EL Range TA 10s and 12s and a little with the NLs.

You’re probably right. It was a Quick Look comparing the two gens outside the store. I didn’t get to compare to the EL’s. I did notice how much more “crisp” the image was to me than the gen 1’s, which may have just reminded me of my swaro’s. Looking forward to your review.

Which would you take on a hunt? Not ELR match or anything like that, but to hunt with. Are the ballistics good/important/more reliable that you would take the Revics over the EL Range TA's?

The glass on the Gen 2’s is better than the Gen 1’s and is starting to actually look like $1,000 glass- a bit sharper and the colors are more true.

The major change to the performance is that the range, elevation data, and wind hold all populate near instantly and together.

For hunting the Swaro's are awesome due to the amazing glass. For long range shooting the Swaro’s are not great as you cannot true your ballistics on them and they also only have a max ranging distance of 2200y, so not designed for ELR or competition shooting. Also no wind inputs. The Revic on the other hand has 8000y max ranging capability, you can true your ballistics and you can input wind. So more geared towards competition shooting and ELR or long range hunting. The Revic is a lot more “customizable” and can be linked to external ballistics apps like the new Eagle Ballistics for one example.
The new sig kilo warp looks like it might be interesting for the purpose you describe.

The Gen2 Revics might be the best combination on the market when you consider both the glass quality and the rangefinder. I have very sensitive eyes, and using the Gen One binoculars would often cause discomfort and lead to headaches within 30 minutes. However, with the Gen 2 binoculars, I haven't experienced this issue even after spending over five hours of serious glassing sessions on a few scouting trips.

Wow - so Revics over the new 12x42 El ranges?

Yes, I will probably be taking the Revics. To be clear, the EL Range glass is better, but when testing the lasers in smoke, fog, and crappy atmospheric conditions, sometimes the EL Range Laser is not consistent to 1000 yards. My glassing setup for this year will be the Gen2 Revics, 14NLs, and sometimes the Swaro STC.

Having used the gen1 revics all last fall I did not feel I was missing out per se not using swaro glass for hunts but the thought of alpha glass did pop into my mind from time to time. However now I’m back to debating options.
Currently using sig 10k gen2’s and have no complaints for competition use or even field use but do often ponder switching back to alpha binos for hunting. I really want to try a pair of 12 nl’s, but then would need to buy a separate rf. Most economical route is just keep the sigs for both and try and ride off into the sunset OR keep those for comps and get a set of nl’s and a 5k or br4 to pair with them for hunting.

In the last 10 years of hunting there has been one time having the combined unit got me a shot at a deer I otherwise wouldn’t have (last season), but had I not shot that one maybe I’d have found a bigger buck later in the hunt? 🤷‍♂️😂

Have you spent any time behind the sig 10k gen2’s? If so how do YOU feel they compare to the new revics?

Thanks for the reply. Now to hope the coders get their act together so I can get a set before season....

Thanks - I am in the market and planning on pulling the trigger as soon as I make a decision. If you weren’t packing the NLs or a spotter and the Rangefinding binos were your only optics, would you change your approach? I have been wanting a 12x rangefinding bino for a while, so when Swaro dropped one it got me excited.

The EL Range binoculars will meet the needs of 99% of hunters. The glass quality is exceptional, and the laser performance is good. However, I practice extensively at extended ranges and want a laser that will function effectively even in the worst conditions at distances exceeding 1000 yards.

have you used the EL’s in below zero temps? If so, any issues? I struggle with finding any rangefinder that consistently ranges in cold temps. Would be an awesome tool for coyote calling.
